Wall of Honor: Jason Pfiefer

Being diagnosed with testicular cancer at 30 years old was shocking.
A young, healthy guy like me with cancer? Yep. There is nothing more difficult that I have experienced in life than being faced with the decisions and questions that came along with that cancer diagnosis. Decisions around where to get treated and what type of treatment would be best for my diagnosis. How was I going to tell my friends and family? Would I continue working during my treatment? What was my insurance going to cover and what was I responsible for?
Fortunately, my experience with cancer happened at a time in my life when I had the time, energy and resources to really take care of myself fully, which was so crucial in my treatment and recovery. As a cancer patient and now survivor, I've had the opportunity to really look at my life from a perspective of importance and priority rather than obligations and checklists. My hope is that every cancer sufferer and their family can have the support I did. That it why it is so important to have "For The Health Of It." It is an opportunity to raise money for those affected by cancer to help with the unexpected additional costs and stress that cancer brings, that insurance can not provide.
