Being part of a community of other parents helps reduce isolation. Parents with greater knowledge about how their children grow and develop and access the resources they need to meet their children’s needs. They are less likely to neglect or abuse their children, and to meet the challenges of daily life with resilience.
Kids First and Taos Loves Kids offer a variety of support groups and classes from Questa to the Mesa, from Peñasco to Taos and Taos Pueblo. Classes offered in Spanish and English include: Parenting Classes, Infant massage, and CPR.

Holy Cross Hospital’s First Steps Home Visitors provide support to families who are pregnant, and to new parents including fathers, adoptive parents and foster families. First Steps home visitors foster a healthy transition to parenthood for the first three years of the child’s life. Through one-on-one relationships with their home visitor, parents gain knowledge about nutrition, preventative health care, preschool readiness and access to community resources.
